The sculptures are reminiscent of past ceramic and pottery designs from centuries before to contemporary influences. The visualisation of&nbsp;Nü Orchidaceae works towards experimentation and attention to detail with form, colour and material, remaking the form of the orchid flower into framed botanical with a new elaborate form.&nbsp; Below are the completed works of Nü Orchidaceae. In hypothesis, it brings up an imagined scenario of Friedrich Nietzsche’s ideas being read by comedy actress Jennifer Coolidge in an audiobook.The references are made out in a complex way, with only the messages in the titles in the works conveying dark intuitive thinking and mismanaged emotions as a source of guidance. Uncertainty and pessimism combined with the pastel colour palette and numerous objects personify all together to be something untrustworthy and troubling. The idiosyncratic self-observation from this collection working in a matter of stupidity by making decisions that are impulsive and without through thinking behind these choices. Critical thinking is contextualised as an after thought until establishing an aesthetic that is borderline childish and without co-ordination. The use of text and the titles are a source of guidance for the viewer to co-ordinate what they interpret from the works.Influenced but Freud’s 1919 essay The Death Drive, the interpretation of uncertainty and the uncanny as desired factors and meaningless livelihood is entertained by the installation. From there, the theme of meaninglessness is strategised in the art making. Meanwhile, the subtext of each work is a reflection though an abstract lens. From the presumed sentience of a hypothetical foetus, intertwining red velvet cake with suicide, being insecure with makeup while using excess amounts of it, incorporating cheap materials towards delusions of grandeur, a shrine dedicated to a imagined young man, and lastly staying safe away from marriage and family. Nonsensical Sensibilities was showcased in Everything in Between Exhibition at the Tusday Club in Auckland on October 2022, and in the Whitecliffe BFA (Hons) and MFA Graduation Exhibition in Novemeber The work reacts against the falsehoods of romantic ideals and mainstream portrayal of love in movies, literature and television from a perspective of disappointment, anger and apathy about how love is demonstrated and romantic ideals. This perspective is conveyed by the various objects being incorporated into the romantic theme of the installation. The bed installation ‘Night, Sweetie… juxtaposes the comfort a typical duvet offers, only for the written text to covey an uncomfortable element akin to falling out of love. The design of the duvet cover is intended to be excessive with a range of materials and chosen imagery in comparison to commercially sold duvet covers. The duvet cover utilises romantic motifs with the aim challenge the audience with their perception of love. The objects are displayed in no particular order but position in a stricter manner, and the original purposes of these objects are juxtaposed. With each object skewing to wait her pain or pleasure. It’s like a rainbow…of ugly.” Hosea Jan Frank aka zefrank, True Facts About the Angler Fish*. Anglerfish Complex is an installation accompanied by a&nbsp;series of&nbsp;four&nbsp;performative art videos that are played for the audience to observe while in a space that is akin to to bedroom.&nbsp; The motif of this work is the anglerfish, more specifically the female anglerfish. Mainly because the male anglerfish are smaller, and their only purpose is to be the gonads for the females. I familiarised myself with this sea creature because the abnormal and creepy appearance is what attracted me to the it as well as it’s dynamics. The female anglerfish is more dominant than the male in terms of size, sexual dimorphism and purpose. There is a specific fascination and familiar identification with the deep-sea anglerfish who lives 6600 feet deep in the sea and it’s more uncanny appearance in comparison to the other species of the anglerfish.&nbsp; Establishing the anglerfish in terms of identifying to configuring my personality and my femininity is a source of comfort, while at the same time carrying feelings of insecurity, misanthropy and misery. I have studied and made work on how the feminine body and ideal are observed and critiqued, so now I want my femininity to be observed and judged. These performances were filmed in my bedroom, thereby in a metaphorical sense it is like watching a deep-sea anglerfish in a fish tank. Embodying the anglerfish allows me to envision a personality whose traits consist of being cringe-worthy, delusional, pathetic, sexually abnormal and self-deprecating. While this is an invasion of privacy and uncomfortable viewing, this self-exposure and vulnerability is a dominating presence in these performances and to test the extent of the comfort of the viewer’s experience. The enquiry of this series explores and examines the idea of the female body though an angelic and absracted point of view.&nbsp; The Irish and Scottish Gaelic origin comes from MacNeil linking three generations of her family - her grandmother, her mother, and herself - as they share a skill in sewing and working with fabrics.The values of the anti-aesthetic and the abject is moulded into this point of view, and then motifs of traditional and standard feminine beauty are then combined with those values. The various themes of luxury, high fashion, pornography, and BDSM contribute into this enquiry of female beauty.
